Andrew is an active volunteer, involved in the Advisory Council of Houston Playground and the Board of Trustees at his church, FUMCOG.  He recently joined the Board of APF Global (Asosyasyon Peyizan Fondwa), the international arm of a Haitian nonprofit dedicated to empowering local grassroots organizations to create wealth in their communities.

When he’s not working on the draft of his current novel in progress, he is often sending query letters about his first novel (interconnected stories about two boys growing up in a poor neighborhood of Philadelphia), or submitting short stories to literary magazines.  Otherwise he’s probably dropping his daughter at daycare, picking his son up from kindergarten, grading undergraduate essays, tutoring high schoolers for the SAT, reading aloud to his children, or (most likely) watching the 76ers on an ipad while doing the dishes.
